Find Dallas County Recent Arrests

Tracking Dallas County recent arrests starts with two questions. Which agency made the arrest, and where does the person sit in the booking process? There is no single county feed that pairs mugshots with booking details. A fresh arrest might show up as a sheriff record, a Selma police report, a jail roster entry, or a later court file. The official paths below cover each of those options. They also show how a same-day check differs from a multi-day search and what to expect after release or transfer.

Dallas County Recent Arrest Channels

Start with the county's own channels. The current Dallas County Jail page is the entry point for booking questions. From there, the sheriff, the arresting police agency, and the court pick up the record as the case moves. Dallas County publishes no live inmate roster, no same-day booking feed, and no public booking-photo search on its official site. So a blank screen tells you nothing. The county simply posts no search tool.

Timing shapes the question too. "Arrested today" means asking whether a brand-new intake has finished processing. A multi-day search looks for late entries or weekend arrests. Neither exists as an online Dallas County feed, so both come down to calling the jail directly.

WindowVerified public viewBest official route
Same dayNo online 24-hour feed locatedCall the current jail and ask about a named person
Several daysNo county web blotter locatedRequest a date-bounded booking log from the sheriff
Selma incident activityNo continuous public arrest log locatedRequest the police report or daily-information-log entry

Two companion guides split the work. The Arrested Today guide covers fresh bookings on the same day. The Arrest Reports guide handles date ranges, delayed news, and older records. Each answers a different question, and neither pretends the county runs a live arrest feed.

Arrested Today in Dallas County

A new arrest takes time to become a finished booking. Call the jail at (334) 690-1200 with a full name and a rough arrest time. Ask three things. Has Dallas County completed the booking? Is intake still in progress? Has another Alabama facility picked up the person? In Selma, the split runs deeper. The police department keeps the incident report, while the sheriff holds the booking entry. That means two separate requests, and it happens all the time.

Timing note: “Posted today” and “arrested today” are not the same field; intake, correction, and transfer can change when a record becomes available.

A missing web page proves nothing about release. The county site offers no live custody view at all. Alabama's victim-notification service will not fill that gap either. Its scope is state prisons, not Dallas County pretrial bookings. Read the VINE Arrest Check guide before signing up for alerts so the limits are clear.

Dallas County Arrest Roster Reality

The official jail page is a contact page, not a roster. It lists the temporary facility at 4805 US-80, Alabama 36786, weekday hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., plus phone and fax. The sheriff's page stays informational too. Neither offers a name search, a booking-number lookup, a results table, an archive, or any update stamp. There is no sheriff jail app for Dallas County either.

The screenshot below shows exactly what the county publishes. An absent roster is not the same as an empty one.

Dallas County Jail official contact page without a public roster search
The official Dallas County Jail capture supports the contact-first route and does not display a live booking list.

Because Dallas County publishes no roster format, treat these items as a request checklist rather than a claim about county postings. Ask the record custodian which fields can be released and which get redacted.

Field to requestWhy it matters
Full name and booking numberSeparates people with similar names
Arrest and intake timesShows whether an event and booking happened at different times
Arresting and booking agenciesIdentifies which office owns each record
Holding facility and transfer statusClarifies where the person is now
Charges and bond as bookedRecords intake charges, not final disposition
Release date and reasonExplains why a person is no longer in custody
Booking photographMust be requested separately if maintained and releasable

Call first when you need to locate someone fast. For a copy of a record, mail a narrow written request with the person's name, the date range, the incident, the agency involved, and the fields you want. Confirm which facility holds the person before you drive anywhere.

Where Dallas County Arrests Surface

Each office covers a different stage of custody. The sheriff and jail come first for county bookings and current custody. Selma Police keeps its own incident reports. Once charges are filed, the Fourth Judicial Circuit takes over the case. ADOC answers for people already in state prison, and federal systems run on their own. Local news adds color, but it picks and chooses stories, so silence there never means no arrest happened.

Private mugshot sites deserve caution here. RecentlyBooked, Arrests.org, and Mugshots.zone show no Dallas County, Alabama section, and search results often dump you into Dallas County, Texas instead. Those sites are not county records, and their links prove nothing about a current booking. The Black Belt News Network Dallas County page is the better secondary source, closer to home. Still, it covers selected events rather than every arrest.

This county news page can identify public statements and later developments, but it is not an official arrest roster.

Selma Police announcements show the difference in practice. Local reporting once covered a single announcement naming ten arrests spread across March and April 2026. That kind of report points you toward the agency and the underlying cases, but it cannot give you a full count for either month. A later WAKA story described an entertainment-district operation run by Selma Police with the Dallas County Sheriff, producing both arrests and citations. Operation coverage is narrower than booking coverage. Keep the article date, the stated incident date, and the agency attribution when you rely on either source. Any photo attached to such a story could be a scene shot, an agency handout, a file image, or a booking photo. Read the caption before deciding which one it is.

Dallas County Arrests by City

City lines don't settle where the paperwork sits. Selma runs its own police department, yet an arrest inside the city can still end up as a county booking. Valley Grande and Orrville are simpler in one way. Neither publishes its own arrest feed or police records page. Searches for those cities start with the Dallas County Sheriff and the E911 system instead of some invented municipal portal.

Inside a Dallas County Arrest Record

A booking record begins the moment a person is taken into custody. That makes it distinct from the incident report an arresting officer writes, and from the court file that opens once charges are filed. Dallas County posts no field-by-field schema online. Each piece has to be requested and confirmed with the office that holds it. The strongest record ties together identity, timing, the agencies involved, custody status, bond, release, and later case references, so the arrest entry itself stays just what it is: an arrest entry.

Record fieldWhat it can show
Legal name and lawful identifiersWhich person the entry concerns
Arrest and booking datesWhen police action and jail intake occurred
Agency and incident numberWhere to seek the underlying report
Charge and statuteThe charge recorded at intake
Bond and case numberThe bridge to court follow-up
Facility, release, or transferThe person’s custody path
DispositionThe later court outcome, when available
Key terms. Booking is jail intake. Arraignment is an early court appearance. Bond sets release conditions. Disposition is the case outcome. Expungement is a court process that may remove qualifying records under law.

Dallas County Mugshots After Arrest

Dallas County publishes no official booking-photo gallery, no image search, no request form, and no fee schedule or retention rule for mugshots. That is not the same as saying no agency ever creates or releases a photograph. The safe route is a narrow request to the actual custodian. Ask whether the photo is kept as part of the booking record, whether it is lawfully releasable, what redaction or exception applies, and what the office charges for a copy.

Alabama public-record law supports access to arrest information and mugshots in many cases, subject to exceptions. A booking photo is an intake document tied to an arrest, nothing more. A copied image can also go stale or carry the wrong outcome. For state-prison custody, the Alabama Department of Corrections search works, but it serves current inmates rather than today's Dallas County arrests, and it does not promise a photo with every result.

Request Dallas County Arrest Records

The Dallas County Sheriff's Department lists 102 Church Street, Selma, AL 36702, phone (334) 874-2530, fax (334) 874-2563, and the email dallascoso@dallascounty-al.org. Note that the current jail page shows a different operational location and phone number. Aim any record request at the office that created or keeps the record, not merely the place where the arrest happened.

  1. Identify the record. Give the full name, date or short date range, incident location, known agency, and report or case number.
  2. Separate the documents. Ask for the incident report, booking entry, release or transfer record, and photograph as distinct items.
  3. Ask for the custodian. If the sheriff did not create an item, request the name of the office or receiving facility that did.
  4. Confirm cost and format. Ask for a written estimate and electronic delivery before authorizing copies.
  5. Preserve the response. Keep the request date, response, cited exception, and later correction or disposition together.

Alabama Code §§36-12-40 and 36-12-44 govern public-record access and the request procedure, along with specific exceptions. Section 36-12-44 sets acknowledgment and response frameworks, with separate tracks for standard and time-intensive requests. Neither statute sets a photo fee for Dallas County. The Selma Police report form's $15 incident-report and $35 collision-report amounts apply to that municipal form only, not to county mugshots.

Alabama Arrest Records and Removal

Public once does not mean public forever, at least not online. Juvenile, youthful-offender, sealed, expunged, victim, medical, investigative, and safety-sensitive information may be withheld or redacted. When an entry is missing, say so plainly: not released or not available. Do not guess at the reason.

Alabama Code §41-9-625: The provision addresses biometric identifiers submitted to ALEA, including photographs, and provides a disposition-based removal route when a person is released without charge or cleared under its terms. It does not automatically erase every incident report, court file, news story, or private copy.

Check the official Alabama code page for the version currently in force. An amendment takes effect October 1, 2026, so current legal advice must account for that change. Court expungement is a separate process. ALEA describes the state route, and the Dallas County court page posts a $300 filing fee. Paying the fee does not guarantee eligibility or relief.

The captured statute page is the starting point for checking current text, not a substitute for legal advice about a specific record.

Dallas County sets no published retention term for booking records. The Alabama Archives explains that local records follow approved schedules and cannot simply be destroyed at will. Ask which Records Disposition Authority series covers booking logs, photographs, transfers, and release records, and whether tornado damage affected storage. Retention, though, never promises web publication.

For older material, the Alabama Archives local RDA search can identify an approved local schedule. The Archives county-records page describes county and municipal material available on microfilm, while most physical records stay with the office that created them. Its research-request service handles historical work, not current custody. The service charges $15 in-state and $25 out-of-state, covers up to 20 copies with added copy charges, and typically takes two to three weeks. Confirm the Archives is the true custodian, not the sheriff, police, court clerk, or receiving jail, before sending a request.

A correction and a removal are different requests. Start with the source office when a name, date, charge, image, or outcome is wrong. Ask for a written response and cite the later court disposition. If official identifying data qualifies for statutory removal, or a court grants expungement, that paperwork may support a separate request to a search engine or private publisher. Nothing happens automatically. Alabama sources also require no payment to an unverified removal service.

Dallas County Arrest Warrants

The county publishes no online warrant database and no current most-wanted list. The Dallas County magistrates and warrants page does state the key local rule: an arrest warrant stays out of public view until it is served. It also draws a line between Selma municipal misdemeanors, county magistrate matters, and county felonies. Because of that split, one Selma incident can require checks at both the municipal and county level.

Anyone who thinks a warrant might exist should use the official in-person sheriff route or speak with a licensed Alabama attorney. If safety is at risk, call law enforcement right away. Never confront or try to detain someone based on a name, a photo, a rumor, or an old report. A web search that turns up nothing says nothing about warrant status.

After a Dallas County Arrest

Once Dallas County files charges, the Fourth Judicial Circuit takes over. Its Circuit Clerk keeps case records for seven courts, and Alabama's Administrative Office of Courts adds tools like Just One Look and Alacourt.com. AlaFile exists too. That one handles electronic filing, not public lookup. Searching court records can surface a case number, a hearing date, a bond action, or a disposition.

Link the court file to the booking with lawful identifiers and matching dates. Then check the most recent docket entry. Intake charges can change, and a release reason is not a final outcome. Disposition simply means how the court resolved the case. That detail matters most when an older Dallas County arrest page shows no dismissal, plea, or conviction.

Why Dallas Custody Moves Elsewhere

A 2023 EF-2 tornado wrecked the old Dallas County Jail. In January 2026, WSFA reported that it remained closed, with Dallas County inmates housed in other Alabama jails. Black Belt News Network later reported an August 2026 reconstruction contract. So a Dallas County booking stays a county record even when the person sits in a cell far from Selma.

WSFA report about the tornado-damaged Dallas County Jail closure
The reporting explains why the booking county and the current holding facility may differ.

Call the number on the current jail page before you visit, send property, or assume the visitation rules. Ask two things. Which facility actually holds the person, and which agency keeps the record? Treat the county directory's older (334) 874-2585 listing as a legacy number, since the current jail page comes first.

Dallas Arrests Beyond County Custody

Wondering who was arrested in Dallas County and then moved into state custody? The Alabama Department of Corrections inmate search answers whether someone sits in sentenced state prison. Enter a six-digit AIS number or a full name, with filters for race, sex, birth year, and institution. AIS takes priority, historical data stays offline, and Youthful Offender Act sentences are left out of the totals. None of that makes ADOC a Dallas County recent-booking feed.

The federal Bureau of Prisons locator tracks BOP custody but shows no booking photographs. ICE's Online Detainee Locator covers immigration custody and runs on exact identity or A-number searches. The U.S. Marshals Service keeps no general Dallas County booking roster. A name missing from the county path could mean release, a transfer, state prison, federal or immigration custody, or a lag in the record. Each possibility calls for the right source, not one broad name search.
